These days, with the gap between the number of Macs versus Windows PCs shrinking, it is important to be able to exchange information between the two operating systems. Sure, we can convert files, but that is not always possible, and there are almost always inconsistencies in formatting between conversions.

Bootcamp has the disadvantage of forcing a user to boot up into one operating system or the other. Parallels for Mac has the ability to run Windows side by side with the Mac operating system, allowing for a user to easily switch between the two.

With Parallels installed a user can even cut and paste between applications open in each of the operating systems. A fairly powerful machine is required for this but most modern Macs are certainly up to the task.

Purchasing a Mac is not the crutch that it once was. Macs and PCs can now quite easily exist side by side in the workplace without the penalties of compatibility that once implied.

It is a good thing to, as Mac popularity continues to rise, making the line between Mac and PC users thinner than ever.
